The Daily Meal posted its list of Best College Towns for Food in America and Ithaca has come in at #6.
The site lists the Souvlaki House, Mercato Bar and Kitchen and The Chapter House (no longer standing) as Ithaca’s must-dine at experiences. Here’s a list of my favorites:
Located in Downtown Ithaca, Moosewood offers a vegetarian and vegan menu to its customers. The restaurant, a collectively owned business with nineteen members, has been open since 1973. My favorite dish? Pasta with lemon pistachio pasta.
Looking for a sweet treat? Stop by Waffle Frolic on the Commons. Try the Mr. Popular, a waffle loaded with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, Nutella and maple syrup. Or for those of you with a bigger appetite, try the turkey burger served on two waffle buns.
Ithaca Ale House
The Ithaca Ale House on North Aurora Street is known for their 20 craft beer selection on tap. Their rotating selection brings the finest seasonal and diverse offerings to customers. Although I’m not old enough to drink yet, I still enjoy a signature burgers. On my bucket list of things to eat before graduation is The “Fat Kid” burger. It comes between two grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun.
Viva Taqueria and Cantina is the best spot in Ithaca to fix that Mexican craving. This California-style taqueria is a fast, healthy and delicious place to dine. My favorite dish? Any of the quesadillas or enchiladas. Don’t forget the guacamole.
